When you accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, you began a journey that will continue for the rest of your life.  Jesus told us in His Word that there are key things we must do, in obedience to Him. You must allow God:

·       time to work in your life.

·        to bring in the new as you give up the old.

·       to grow you in the principals of his Word—the Bible.

1. Read The Bible Every Day

The BIBLE is God’s instruction manual for life and we must follow it. It is unique; it is God’s Holy Word written for the human race. You can trust it to give you the answers you need for everyday living. Get a Bible that you can easily understand as you start out. The Bible gives direction and, as we allow it to direct our lives, we’ll keep from stumbling and falling.

The Bible says, "All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for showing people what is wrong in their lives, for correcting faults, and for teaching how to live right. Using the Scriptures, the person who serves God will be capable, having all that is needed to do every good work." (2 Tim 3:16-17 CEV)

“For whatever was written before was written for our instruction, so that through our endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we may have hope.” (Rom 15:4 HCSB)

“Your Word is like a lamp that shows me the way. It is like a light that guides me.” (Psalm 119:105 NIRV)

As you continue to read God’s Word, it will take root and grow

in your heart and, as a result, it will change your life.

2. Pray Every Day

Prayer is instant two-way communication with God.  It is simply talking to God, letting our concerns and requests be made known to Him.  God wants to hear your prayers.  He is interested, He listens and He answers.  He also wants to speak to you—then you take time to listen to Him.  As you spend time with Him in prayer, your relationship with Him will grow more intimate, your heart more tender, and you will develop the ability to hear Him.

3. Be Water Baptized

Water baptism is an outward showing of an inward doing.  We are baptized into His death, buried with Him, and raised to new life in Him.  We die to our old, sinful nature as we symbolically go into a watery grave.

Don't you know that all who share in Christ Jesus by being baptized also share in his death?  When we were baptized, we died and were buried with Christ.  We were baptized, so that we would live a new life, as Christ was raised to life by the glory of God the Father.”

(Rom 6:3-4 CEV)

“Repent, and let every one of you be baptize in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. (Acts 2:38)

The Greek Word for baptism is “baptizo” which means to “dip” or “submerge”.

“Jesus left Galilee and went to the Jordan River to be baptized by John.  About that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee, and John baptized him in the Jordan River.  As soon as Jesus came out of the water, he saw the sky open and the Holy Spirit coming down to him like a dove.  A voice from heaven said, "You are my own dear Son, and I am pleased with you." Mark 1:9-11 CEV)

4. Attend Church Regularly

Why is it necessary to join a local church?

The Bible says not to forsake the assembling of yourselves together. We are to come together. Hebrews 10:25, "Forsake not the assembling of yourselves together as the manner of some and much more as you see the day approaching." Read Acts 2:42-47 to see some of the many benefits of regularly meeting together and maintaining fellowship in the church.

5. Tell Others About Jesus

Jesus said, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth!  Go to the people of all nations and make them my disciples.  Baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to do everything I have told you.  I will be with you always, even until the end of the world." (Matthew 28:16-20 CEV)  This is commonly referred to as "The Great Commission."  Jesus tells us to make disciples for Him.  Jesus will reward us if we make disciples (Revelation 22:12). We love people and care where they spend eternity (Matthew 22:39).
